Sunday, 9 October 2005 - Family picnic in the park. Meet in the Village Green near the lake cafe in Bicentennial Park, Homebush Bay from midday. Look for the lupus signs/banners and orange balloons. This day is aimed specifically at families living with lupus, but if you can't bring all your family, come with who you can (BYO everything). This year, we are hoping to have sample bags for those who attend, as well as children's entertainment. It is a great opportunity to raise awareness among the general public.
Thursday, 13 October 2005 - one day seminar at Parramatta RSL Club (Cnr Macquarie & O'Connell Streets, Parramatta) from 9am to 4pm. Speakers include Karen Aubrey (Lupus Association of NSW), Dr Connie Katelaris, Dr Angela Fu, Dr Chris Commens, Dr Paul Wrigley and Associate Professor Michael Nicholas. Topics include sjogrens, raynauds and APS, Lupus and the skin, pain, fatigue and sleep. Cost: $27 member pensioner discount, $30 members, $38 non members. Cost includes a resource and information kit, tea & coffee on arrival, entry to seminar, morning tea, light lunch and a chance to win the lucky door prize.
Saturday, 29 October 2005 - one day seminar at Orange Ex-Services Club (241 Anson Street, Orange) from 8.45am to 4pm. Speakers include Councillor John N Davis Mayor of Orange, Dr Susan Read, Dr Simon Hammond, Dr Derek Davies, Dr Gabriel Shannon, Ms Keren Dando, Dr Peter Johnson. Topics include Lupus and the skin/kidney/central nervous system, pain, fatigue and sleep and why we use the drugs we do. Cost: $17 member pensioner discount, $20 members, $28 non members. Cost includes a resource and information kit, tea & coffee on arrival, entry to seminar, morning tea, light lunch and a chance to win the lucky door prize.
